Your time at the University

I came to Edinburgh because I was interested in the studies of Professor John Russell at the College of Medicine and Veterinary Medicine.

The PhD was an intensive but beautiful experience. Beautiful because I fell in love with the landscape of Edinburgh. In particular, I loved walking along Princes Street: with shops on one side and a valley, gardens, castle and old buildings with spires on the other side.

I enjoyed walking through the Meadows and have photographs taken during each season of the year. In fact, I discovered an interest in photography purely because of the beauty of Edinburgh.

It is nostalgic to think about the days I spent there with my friends. We started a student society, Edinburgh University Vegetarian Society, and learned a lot as well as had fun. I am sure the friendships that I made during my stay will last for a life time.

My PhD experience, and in particular just being a graduate from the University of Edinburgh, enabled me to secure this position where my husband was doing his PhD.

On a personal level, the University of Edinburgh helped me to become a more confident person. I was a changed person when I left Edinburgh compared to how I was when I arrived.
