I chose Edinburgh to work with several noted scholars at the School of Scottish Studies including John MacQueen, the director, Hamish Henderson, poet and songwriter and David Murison, father of the Scottish National Dictionary. What’s more, we’re building a community of Edinburgh alums in the states, and it is great fun to work with fellow graduates and with the University to strengthen its ties to North America, in the context of all that we learned during our time in Scotland. Image Mora Main Mora Main used her geography degree to make a difference in green politics and volunteers with environmental organisations in New South Wales, where she now lives. Along with subsequent qualifications in landscape architecture I was equipped to understand climate change and environmental threats at a very early stage and have continued to build on that knowledge – geography was such a great place to start. Image Peter Neil Although Peter Neil found his time at Edinburgh challenge, it was still certainly an enjoyable experience and was a stepping stone towards two equally interesting and complementary careers. I was appointed Vice-Chancellor of Bishop Grosseteste University in May 2013; this is a Church of England foundation institution so that this post will enable me to bring my two areas of expertise together – theology and education.
