February 2014 | Alumni Profiles

This month we talk to alumni who have, by very different and contrasting routes, found their way to successful and fulfilling careers.

We are interested in the role that the University has played in your life, either directly - in terms of skills and knowledge - or indirectly, via friends, experiences or chance encounters.

Please get in touch and you and your experiences could feature on our website.

Daniel Bonner has gone from strength to strength in his career since graduating from Edinburgh College of Art. Here he tells us about working on branding projects for some of the world’s major companies.

Bessie Daschbach came to Edinburgh in 1996 as a visiting student. She tells us how she went from studying the writing of Victorian women to taking on major corporations as a lawyer.

Author Joel McIver takes a refreshingly candid look back at his time as an Edinburgh student and his path to a career as a writer.

Software engineer Mike McQuaid talks about how Edinburgh stimulated an appetite for learning that has led to a career he loves.

Alex Yellowlees’ passion for Edinburgh - both the University and the city - is obvious, and he has some wise advice for current medical students.
