Your time at the University

The University of Edinburgh was the only university I applied to, and Edinburgh was the only place I wanted to be.

My family were overseas and I was finishing boarding school in Moffat when I was accepted into philosophy and linguistics. While a student, I volunteered for Rag Week and joined the ski club.

I met a Canadian post-grad business student (Ian McGregor), fell in love, and shortened my course to a 3-year general degree. Then, to prepare myself for life in Canada, I took a Canadian studies course with Wreford Watson.

If you were good enough for Edinburgh, you’ll certainly be good enough for us.

Tell us about your Experiences since leaving the University

I currently work in finance with a small firm in Burlington, Ontario. My first job interview in Canada was with a manufacturing firm; a job for which I had no experience.

The General Manager interviewing me slowly read through my resume and stopped when he saw Edinburgh University. His comment was, If you were good enough for Edinburgh, you’ll certainly be good enough for us.
