Alison Glover was already a qualified nurse with a successful career when she came to the University to study for an MSc which has already opened up new possibilities within her profession. Name Alison Glover Degree Course MSc Advancing Nursing Practice Year of Graduation 2014 Image Your time at the University I thoroughly enjoyed studying at the University of Edinburgh. The University allowed me to study in an open and adult manner understanding the pressures of working full time and studying. When I started the thought of an MSc was fairly daunting. My tutor was great and we spent many hours deliberating over coffee in the meadows. It's amazing how coffee and a cake aid the thought process. I was surprised how many students were straight out of university with no work experience but it was interesting listening to their thoughts and ambitions for the future. Since undertaking the MSc in Advancing Nursing Practice I have developed a patient information website which is currently and on the NHS Lothian website, I have presented several of my assignments at our specialist conferences and I am currently in the process of developing our clinics for the future. Alison Glover Tell us about your Experiences since leaving the University I qualified as a registered general nurse in 1994 moved to Guys hospital in London and worked in renal and transplant until 2001 when I moved back to Edinburgh. I worked as a charge nurse in Renal HDU until 2004 when I moved to my current role as a renal recipient transplant co-ordinator. Since undertaking the MSc in Advancing Nursing Practice I have developed a patient information website which is currently and on the NHS Lothian website, I have presented several of my assignments at our specialist conferences and I am currently in the process of developing our clinics for the future. I feel that I now have the confidence to speak about telehealth and the health assessment processes for kidney transplant patients from a clinical and theoretical knowledge base.
