Dick Vet graduate Dr Lawson Cairns organises Continuing Education for companion animals on behalf of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association and is seeking participation from fellow graduates. A message from Dr Lawson Cairns, a 1971 Dick Vet graduate: Pro bono lecturers Image Alumnus Dr Lawson Cairns welcomes fellow vet alumni to take part in pro bono lectures in Southern Africa. I am the local organizer of Continuing Education for companion animals on behalf of the World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA). I assist in organizing courses usually on a yearly basis for 11 countries in Southern Africa. I am looking for lecturers to assist by giving their time on a pro bono basis in the countries where lectures are organised. There are many programs in place from the college to assist with production animal improvement but very little is being done to improve the welfare of the companion animals and this is an area which is desperately in need of promotion. Southern Africa is an area of huge tourist diversity and we would normally pay for an airfare and hotel accommodation and assist with organizing some form of recreation acceptable to the lecturer during their visit, but the cost could be for the lecturer or sometimes can be organized by the association of the countries visited. The local organizers are enthusiastic individuals who take great care of the lecturers and establish strong bonds with them. Opportunities for 2020 This request is mainly for the year 2020 with a lot of time to see what can be organized. You can find more information on the WSAVA web link below, but it is about the whole Continuing Education process and my request is solely for the Southern Africa region.
