Counting On Support

ICAS will provide around five generous bursaries each year to students studying accounting, finance and management as part of their degree.

Students receiving an award will also develop their career skills on paid summer internships with several of the organisation’s leading firms, as well as working closely with personal mentors.

Inspiring students

The awards have been established to inspire students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds to consider a career in the world of accounting and finance.

ICAS will also be working with the University’s Widening Participation team to develop a scheme complementing the bursaries to encourage those students that are being specifically sought by this these professions.

Providing opportunity

Sir David Tweedie, Chair of the ICAS Foundation, is keen to stress the importance of providing opportunities for all, saying, It is vitally important the ICAS and Chartered Accountants do all we possibly can to give any aspiring younger person from a disadvantaged background the opportunity to succeed. These future financial and management professionals need help to get on and stay on the ladder of progress. ICAS members, and the wider profession, are in an ideal position to do this via the ICAS Foundation.

We are delighted with the partnership with the University of Edinburgh and believe that Foundation students will develop and thrive at the university to enable them to reach their full potential.

Sir David Tweedie

Chair, ICAS Foundation

We are looking forward to welcoming our first ICAS award holders after the summer and following their journey through their degree.

Students are the heart of the University. Supporting them and ensuring they are able to achieve their full potential are fundamental to the University’s mission.
