Feb 2017 | General Council Meeting and Lunch On Saturday 18 February 2017 the General Council will once again take its meeting to the Edinburgh Centre for Carbon Innovation (ECCI), High School Yards, Edinburgh. This follows the very successful meeting there in February 2016. Event details 10.30am General Council Half-Yearly Meeting - ECCI 12.30pm Reception and Lunch - Playfair Library Hall This will be the last opportunity to see the Principal present the Annual Review given that the he is demitting office in 2017 so please come along to hear him. The meeting will be followed by a Reception and Lunch in the Playfair Library Hall where the after-lunch speaker will be Ken Macintosh, Presiding Officer of the Scottish Parliament. The role, similar to the Speaker of the House of Commons, puts him in charge of keeping order and representing parliament at home and abroad. He was first elected in the 1999 Scottish Parliament election as a Scottish Labour candidate. Before he became an MSP, he was from 1987 to 1999, a television producer for the BBC News Network and worked on Breakfast with Frost, Breakfast News and the Nine O’Clock News. He also worked as a researcher on election programmes for both David Dimbleby and Jonathan Dimbleby. His talk will no doubt be both stimulating and engaging.
