About our guests Beth Christie Chosen object: two feathers from the Icelandic eagle In 2017 Beth Christie (PhD Education, 2004) joined 77 other female ambassadors representing 20 countries in travelling to Antarctica. The team spent 21 days on the continent and came to know it by walking and being in the landscape, carving through packed sea ice and encountering whales, seals and penguins on an almost daily basis. They also visited a range of research stations and attended talks from scientists working and living on Antarctica. Since her return, Beth has been busy sharing her unique insights, including with school pupils, and plans to use these in her teaching – she is a programme director for the MSc in Learning for Sustainability and a lecturer in Outdoor Environmental and Sustainability Education at Moray House School of Education. She started as a graduate on the Royal Bank of Scotland Technology Programme and now leads a diverse team of innovation engineers who work with new technologies like artificial intelligence, API and voice-based banking, and quantum computing. While Udita works in technology by day, she is a creative writer by night. She is an avid reader and reviews theatre in her free time. She is involved in Edinburgh's festivals and when she’s not reviewing, she’s usually in second-hand bookstores. Travels have taken her from surviving a supercyclone in 1999 to featuring on the cover of a Scottish Book Trust anthology in 2013. Some of her favourite things include old books, pressed flowers, and the drama of Edinburgh skies. Udita's alumni profile Udita on Twitter Image The podcast recording in progress.
