The University of Edinburgh offers two tuition fee scholarship schemes for alumni of the University.

Graduate Scholarship Scheme

The University offers a 10% scholarship in postgraduate degree tuition fees for all alumni who have graduated with an undergraduate degree from the University of Edinburgh. Please note some programmes are excluded from the Graduate Scholarship Scheme and you should check the list of programmes not covered by this scholarship before applying.

Alumni (Visiting Undergraduate) Scholarship Scheme

The University also offers a 10% scholarship in postgraduate degree tuition fees for all students who have previously matriculated on a "Visiting Programme" as an undergraduate student and completed a minimum of one semester of study at the University of Edinburgh.

If you are considering some additional learning, the University’s short courses offer a fantastic opportunity to develop your knowledge and skill in a wide variety of areas.

Online learning has become a very popular mode to study at the University and there are several postgraduate avenues you can take. You can choose an online degree from a broad range of subject areas - including at masters, diploma or certificate level - or take a short credit-bearing course.

Postgraduate online learning


The Alumni Library card is only required for physical access to our libraries and borrowing physical books if required. You do not require a card for virtual access to Alumni electronic resources.

Alumni may apply for an Alumni library card by e-mailing: library.account@ed.ac.uk (please include in your email your existing card reference number starting ‘200..’ if applicable).

You can continue your research and studies, and enrich your mind with alumni access to an archive of online journals including the University library's eResources and JSTOR. These are available through the Alumni Portal.
