Award criteria

Information on the criteria that the shortlisting committee uses to evaluate nominations.

The Being Edinburgh Alumni Award celebrates our outstanding alumni who have made an impact in their fields and communities. This prestigious award acknowledges those who are making a change, whether it is on a local or global scale.

What does it mean to Be Edinburgh?

Through the Being Edinburgh Alumni Award, we want to share the different ways that our alumni are shaping the world. There is no one way this is accomplished; whether they are making a difference through charitable or voluntary work, tackling global challenges, leading community initiatives, transforming industries, or changing the cultural landscape, we want to hear their stories.

Your nomination should demonstrate the impact of the nominee in at least one of the following areas:

  • Impact: How has the nominee gone above and beyond to positively affect others?
  • Community: How have they made an impact on their community?
  • Learning: How have they utilised their academic and other learning to make a difference?
