The Being Edinburgh Alumni Award process consists of four stages: Nominations: Edinburgh students, staff and alumni can nominate a member of the alumni community who they feel has met the award criteria. Longlist: A project team from Development and Alumni reviews all applications and creates a longlist based on eligibility and the award criteria. Shortlist: A selection panel of representatives from across the University reviews the longlist and creates a shortlist, usually of three to five names. Final Vote: Edinburgh students, staff and alumni vote on the final shortlist to choose the winner. Key dates Date Stage 31 March 2025 Nominations open 14 April 2025 Nominations close at 5pm 12 May 2025 Online vote opens 26 May 2025 Online vote closes at 5pm Award eligibility Any living former student of the University of Edinburgh is eligible to be nominated This includes those who spent time at the University as part of a Junior Year Abroad or Erasmus, as well as those who have completed postgraduate online learning programmes.Former students of Moray House School of Education and Sport, and Edinburgh College of Art are also applicable, regardless of whether the institution was part of the University of Edinburgh at the time of study. Self-nomination is not allowed. Nomination and voting eligibility University of Edinburgh staff, former students and matriculated students can nominate and vote for the final winner. Members of the shortlisting panel are not permitted to nominate or vote. Members of the Being Edinburgh project team within Development and Alumni at the University of Edinburgh are not permitted to nominate or vote. It is possible to nominate more than one person. Each person can only vote once. Selection panel Applications will be shortlisted by a selection panel made up of a cross-section of the University community. The selection panel will meet in late April and the shortlisted nominees will be contacted by the beginning of May. Members of the selection panel are not permitted to nominate or vote.
